Family Archive from Tasmania

Two boxes of glass plates and a box full of film negatives were found by Katrina of Hazelbrook Cottage Antiques. They appear to be a part of a family archive.

The earliest photograph dates to 1919. The latest has been dated at 31st of July 1921. All appear to be taken in or around Hobart, Tasmania. How the negatives ended up in Blue Mountains remains a mystery. The images are represented as they were found in the boxes.

We don't know anything about the photographer who took the pictures. One of the boxes has the name written in pencil on the lid which I interpreted as A. Poultney. There is also an Autographic Negative with a portrait of a soldier titled Private H. Poultney(?) A.S.C.

There are records of the convict David Poultney, who arrived in Hobart on 21st of November 1829 aboard the convict ship "The Thames". He is likely to be the photographer's ancestor.
